Why Hearth?

Hearth is for owners who'd rather not wait until things get worse. Gentle, daily light at home, without injections, appointments or a subscription. It says exactly what's inside, and it's honest about what it can't promise.

The science

Two wavelengths. The ones vets use.

Red light at 660nm works in the skin and coat. Near-infrared at 850nm travels deeper, which is why clinics use it for joints and backs. The Hearth Pad runs both in every session, in the same one-to-two ratio as clinic devices.

Vets have used red and near-infrared light in clinics for years, mostly for recovery after surgery and for older dogs with sore joints. The studies in dogs are mixed: some trials report a faster return to walking after spinal surgery, others found no difference. What they agree on is the wavelengths, 660nm and 850nm, and that regular sessions matter more than long ones.

Those studies used clinic devices, not this pad, and every dog is different. We make no medical claims. If your dog has a diagnosis, use the pad alongside your vet's plan, not instead of it.

Why we made it

Built to a specification, not a trend.

I spent a decade in construction, where a specification says exactly what something does. The red light pads sold for dogs didn't. The clinic machines cost thousands; the pads online wouldn't say which wavelengths were inside or how long the battery lasted. This is the one I wanted to buy: the two wavelengths vets use, in a pad soft enough that a dog forgets it's there, at a price that doesn't need a payment plan. No app, no subscription, no fuss.

A few questions

Will my dog put up with it?

Most do within a session or two. The pad is soft, warm and quiet, and it goes on while they're already lying down. Plenty of dogs fall asleep.

Does it get hot?

Warm at most, about the temperature of a hand. It switches off after fifteen minutes.

How often should I use it?

Fifteen minutes, three to five evenings a week. Daily is fine. Judge it at three weeks.

Does it work through fur?

Light passes through most coats. For very thick or dark double coats, part the fur under the pad or use it after grooming.

Which dogs is it for?

Older dogs who are slower to get up, long-backed breeds, working and sporting dogs after hard days, and dogs recovering under a vet's care. The strap adjusts from a Dachshund to a Labrador.

This is a wellness device for animals. It is not a veterinary medicine or a medical device, and it is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. If your dog is unwell, see your vet.
